The ad declares that CROSS CREEK LEHIGH COAL reduces coal bills with high heat output and low clinker. It lists a price of 7.50 per ton and claims guaranteed quality, thorough screening, delivery, and no delivery charge.
At 4 P M on July 11 the Americans advanced steadily around Santiago and expected its fall within twenty four hours. Spanish trenches yielded dummy wooden guns and few troops as U S forces faced very weak resistance and growing distress in the city.
At the current board session a new superintendent will be chosen, with J A Eells expected to retain the job. Opposing him is Police Officer Henry Silk of the city. Also on the agenda are grand jurors for September and judges of election for townships.

In Ivar Illinois on July 11 the Elgin butter market showed fair offerings with total sales of 21 900 pounds at 16 1 6 cents. Bidding opened at 154 and moved to 154 16 cents while the quotation committee kept the market firm at 16 cents.
A Curacao weather bulletin notes Illinois plains warming tonight and Wednesday with southerly winds. In New Jersey a Laflin-Rand Powder Co plant explosion at Pompton Lakes kills fifteen workers including several soldiers who guarded the works. the blast earlier claimed six more lives.

Rockford Illinois July 11 a deal closed uniting the Rockford city railway and Rockford traction companies under the Rockford Light and Power company John Farson of Chicago owned the traction plant At a council meeting tonight application for extension of the two franchises was requested though the period was not specified in the new ordinance
