Striking Coal Miners Quiet in Pennsylvania District

Striking miners are reported in PrrnsBuRG Pennsylvania with conflicting accounts on participation. A Wheeling dispatch says workers at the Schyck mines are operating at advance. In nearby Cleveland Lorain and Wheeling mines, 3000 men voted 20 to 1 against the strike.

Coal reserves in northwest Ohio exceed four months demand

Columsus July 6 Special. A Breholz, manager of the Hocking Valley Coal company home office, reports at least 150000 tons of coal in storage in the northwest. He says this stock will meet all demand for at least four months regardless of how widespread a miners strike may spread.

Indiana Labor Commission Seeks Multistate Arbitration

Indianapolis July 6 special the Indiana labor commission sent letters to labor commissioners of Ohio Pennsylvania and Illinois inviting them to meet in this city at the earliest possible date to consider arbitrating the coal miners strike.

Canton July 6. Mother McKinley is recovering from yesterday's fall and is said to be going about as usual. She made light of the incident and shows no serious effects.

George W Lawver DHAD dies in Freeport afternoon

George W. Lawver of Freeport died at his Homer street home this afternoon after months of illness from nervous prostration and related diseases. Born August 27, 1855 at Rock Grove, he came to Freeport as a boy and worked as a candy maker then machinery salesman for W. G. & W. Barnes. A devout Embury church member, husband to Leonica Foy since 1874, he leaves three children Adele Harry and Boyd, plus parents, two sisters and four brothers. Funeral Thursday at 10 a.m. from Homer street residence with Rev. Dr. Wrence and Elder T. V. E. Sweet officiating.

Oxmtonco market reports July wheat at 69 cents, corn 26, oats 18, pork prices 7.72 to 7.80, lard 4.10 to 4.17, ribs 4.42 to 4.50 with September contracts. Union Stock Yards notes hogs 11,000 up, cattle 4,500 steady, sheep 12,000 steady. Freeport market letter cites corn strength, heat fears affecting crops, oats rising, provisions up then soft, and limited cash demand. No Beet Sugar Bounty Abandoned in Tariff Bill

July 6 report notes the Republican senatorial caucus will not again present the beet sugar bounty amendment to the tariff. The Senate considered the tariff bill with votes and speeches, including Bacon explaining his Mills vote on a 5 percent tax. President and party returned from Canton, fatigued by heat at 100 degrees, to the White House. Mrs. McKinley fared better. Senator Harris of Tennessee remains seriously ill but improving.

Milan Sidelined With Sore Hand For Freeport

Will Milan, Freeport's right fielder, is laid up with a sore hand and unable to play yesterday. Once a first class ball player, he suffered a side injury last year that left him partially crippled and has hampered his throwing.
