Double Fatal Farmyard Duel Over Gate Clash
In Lawrence county at Westport Charles Aker shot and killed Robert Brink after Brink, barred from crossing Aker’s farm, broke a locked gate and attacked with a hoe. Mail clerk R T Shimer and baggage master W P Coon were killed. Samuel Parkinson and Frank Owens were fatally injured. Accident blamed on misread orders. The Endeavor train had departed 20 minutes late from here.
