ICC Submits First Report on Coal Discrimination
The Interstate Commerce Commission today transmitted to Congress its first report on the Tillman Gillespie probe of coal discrimination east of the Ohio River. It finds railroads own or control coal interests via stock and land holdings and urges legislation barring common carriers from owning coal properties except those for their own fuel needs.

AFTER RAILROAD'S CHARTER
Attorney General Young began mandamus proceedings in the supreme court to compel the St. Paul Minneapolis and Manitoba Railway to show cause why its charter should not be forfeited. The case alleges the Manitoba company ceased to perform its functions after transferring its railroad to the Great Northern in 1890, with the Great Northern defending as owner of Manitoba stock.
