In Washington on January 14 John F. Brown head of the Seminole tribe sits at the Ebbitt House with Kin keke and Thomas McGilsey. McGilsey’s son was burned at the stake near Maud by a white mob charging him with murder. A 9 year old witness testified the youth was not among the killers. The atrocity, blamed largely on whites, involved two drunk Indian youths. a line of saloons marks the Seminole reservation boundary to Oklahoma where whites sell whisky.

The state supreme court issued an opinion nullifying last winter's separate school law that made it a misdemeanor for white children to attend a colored school or colored children to attend a white school. The court held the law void for ambiguity and its conflict with the fifteenth amendment.
