Saving Four Lives in Storm and Storm Rescue Heroism
A congressional bill would award gold medals to Bishop Hartzell Bishop Fowler and Dr Edward Spencer for lifesaving work during the Lady Elgin wreck in 1860 and the Storm wreck in 1864. The rescues included Hartzell's dramatic line throw to four sailors on a wrecked schooner, with one man dying and four saved. Oscar H. P. Andree, a claimed Peoria Sonne representative, was arrested in Rockford on charges of taking money for ads without delivering prints.
