Five Die in Turpentine Still Mob Shooting

A mob of enslaved men and women tied a white turpentine still manager to a stake in Ewing between Fargo and St. George Valdosta Georgia reports say he barricaded himself and fired killing five men and two women and wounding several others the incident occurred last night according to a special dispatch.

Two Killed as Freight Train Moons Tracks

On the Wabash railroad at Forty-seventh street a freight train backed down on six section hands today. Two men were killed and the others seriously injured.

Died This Morning Mrs Catharine Kachelhoffer Dies

Mrs Catharine Kachelhoffer died at 8 am at about three miles east of the city in Silver Creek township after a year with paralysis and a rapid decline following pneumonia. Born in 1829 in Baden Germany she immigrated with her parents in 1882 and lived in New York Illinois and Silver Creek. Survived by three children Victor Rose and Mrs Frank Bangasser, four brothers and one sister, with funeral arrangements pending likely from the family residence Tuesday morning.

Funeral Held for Joseph Koenig with Large Attendance

Train engine wreck near Rockford injures fireman

An eastbound Chicago and Northwestern engine broke down near Rockford this morning after a side rod fractured. Fireman Nordberg of Chicago is gravely ill in a Rockford hospital, a boiler hole from a flying pin caused by the incident.
