Illinois Central consolidates into single system in Iowa
The Illinois Central, a Des Moines paper reports, has unified all lines of the Illinois Central company into one system totaling over 600 miles. Dubuque serves as headquarters with Sioux City as a western terminal. The Town branch, a major feeder, links lakes and western regions to New Orleans. A new passenger depot at Dubuque nears completion and a central corner jet will be raised next year.
