Partly cloudy conditions prevail in Illinois and Iowa tonight and Tuesday. Illinois stays cloudy with no major changes. Iowa also remains partly cloudy and turns colder tonight as a brief chill moves in. The sunrise was at 7 23 8 and sunset at 4 29 p m.
The House passed a concurrent resolution delaying adjournment to January 6 for the holidays. Oklahoma senators Owen and Gore were sworn in, Frye became president pro tempore, and Tillman delivered a characteristically pointed speech urging investigation into recent bond issues and commenting on President Roosevelt’s patriotism and alleged indiscretions.

The plan splits into two eight‑ship divisions and later four fleets, testing battle tactics, rough seas, and supply logistics for about 25,000 crew. Three Chicago and Northwestern trains collided near Locust cut three miles west of Dixon Illinois injuring conductor Harry A Morris brakeman Harry Rogan and fireman Nelson All three were severely hurt as the extra freight train failed to stop crashing into the preceding train causing the engines to be wrecked and delaying the fast paper train along the line authorities report the extra was traveling about fifty miles per hour and ignored the block signal
