Great Gas Tank Collapses in New York City Flood

A massive steel gas tank at Avenue A and Twentieth Street collapsed at 6 30 pm causing a tide of water to flood streets and buildings. Three dead three confirmed, twenty two injured or missing with several nearly drowned as two story flood waters swept basements and first floors. The incident shut off gas mains downtown crippling restaurants hotels and transit as workers and witnesses describe the devastating scene.
