Plentiful amusements are booked with Hal Reid's The Cow Puncher arriving tonight at the Grand Opera House. The Royal Chef arrives Sept 4 and As Told in the Hills Sept 5. The Cow Puncher is praised for plain wholesome sentiment and honest, grave drama with light comic touches.
Freeport locals will soon hear O'Reilly and The Maiden and the Kissing Bug from The Royal Chef. The musical comedy premieres September 4 at the Grand Opera house with over thirty song hits expected to capture music lovers nationwide.
The play As Told in the Hills will be seen here on September 5, delivering an original American melodrama with a distinct plot and well drawn, natural characters that engage the audience.

Special to the Journal reports a heavyweight bout tonight in San Francisco between Mike Schreck of Cincinnati and Al Kaufman of the city. Both fighters are in prime condition and evenly matched, with a lively slugfest anticipated as the San Francisco Athletic Club expected a good crowd.

An investigation into a Clover Leaf train wrecking attempt near Brockton outlines two Hoodhounds following a path to a nearby house. The home of two young men with past run-ins with Clover Leaf trainmen is alleged, one owning a key to the station toolhouse. A stolen spike puller was found beside the tracks after the tool was taken. The fast train passed safely, despite three rail-lengths being drawn.
A deputy U S marshal, after a lengthy shootout on Bement's main street, captured Bert Schultz and delivered him to the county jail. Schultz is charged with robbing the Homer post office.
An 11 year old boy, son of John Ozaler, dies from gangrenous jackjaw after a splinter puncture in his foot. On Saturday night the father, seeking to aid the boy, ran into a barbed wire fence and suffered severe leg wounds.
Trenry Wulff ex county clerk and state treasurer, recently released from the bridewell and nearly penniless, will be presented with a deed to the Wulff homestead in Jefferson Pur by his friends. There Wulff and his mother may spend their days in a quiet retire meant. Also note Danville action where Police Chief Spangler was ordered to run every man out of town unless he could show visible means of subsistence.
