From Our Own Correspondent Pear City Aug 14 reports Mrs Basham and Mrs Pifer visiting Freeport while residents attend the Barnum and Bailey circus. Various townsfolk travel to Lena camps meeting and Lena Oakdale camp services. a market sale and several visits to Freeport occur as residents host relatives from Missouri Iowa and Oregon. A lightning strike destroys a barn near the Johnson brothers farm with $6000 loss and another fire at Hiram Meyer farm razes a building.

Storm and travel woes mark Bolton August notices

Heavy Thursday storm caused downed trees and damage as Bolton reports a derailment delay. Minnesota governor and C. G. W. Ry. general superintendent, along with about 75 passengers, had breakfast on a cafe car while stranded on a side track. Local items note barn losses, cattle movements, farm activity, camp meetings, and varied visits.

Orangeville reports include Mrs Ova Brean returning home from Bristow, Mrs George Dorn and Miss Ethel Pork back from Chicago with Ethel convalescing from typhoid fever, Dorn also ill this week. Frank Tatts Oneco barn burned last Thursday morning with unknown cause, Hy C Snyder visiting Freeport, Jas Heckman recovering after a drag wagon fall, Dr Stealy of Freeport in town.

Florence Station reports the Oakdale camp grounds draw crowds as F and B Evergreens beat German Valley 15 to 12 at Baileyville. A social dance with a four-piece orchestra is planned at the M W A hall on Friday August 30. News notes include circuses in Freeport, visits by Wim Wilhelms and the correspondent to Lanark, piano dealer Fisher and Albertson in town, and local residents Dolly Otto and Miss Kilker mentioned.
