In Freeport the Revised Ordinances of 1901 Section 1 prohibits cutting injuring or defacing trees shrubs plants turf or park structures without permission. Section 3 forbids disorderly or lewd conduct in parks and parkways. Violations carry 3 to 100 dollars per offense and will be enforced by Chief J H Stir.

The Freeport City Council discussed Alderman Dorman’s sidewalk width proposal on Fourth Avenue and a petition by Aug. Rampenthal and others asking for an electric light at Canton and Chippewa. They referred the petition to the light committee. The council reviewed bonds for Charles Gregory to operate a gas plant and sent them to the finance committee with city attorney. The sewer committee recommended awarding the Empire Street contract to Evans & Hoefer at 45 cents per foot, plus lampholes and manholes, and instructed property owners to deposit front-foot payments. An appropriations ordinance for 1907 was adopted. Bills totaling various general expenses were approved for payment. The Rockey stone quarry purchase was tabled for the stone quarry committee with mayor and city engineer to report next meeting. The council then adjourned.
