Ordinance Governing Parks Notice for Freeport

Council Proceedings Show June Meeting Actions and Ordinances

Regular council session with all aldermen and Mayor Dittmar. Minutes from June 3 and 4 approved. Bonds and licenses for sewer builders Hawke and Son and John Deethardt granted. Fire captain’s bond for Hose Company No. 2 approved. Decoration Day appreciation read and filed. Sidewalk ordinances authorize four foot walks along Fern Street Harlem Avenue and Fourth Avenue parts in Freeport and nearby additions.

Freeport Council Highlights Bonds and Petitions

The Freeport City Council discussed Alderman Dorman’s sidewalk width proposal on Fourth Avenue and a petition by Aug. Rampenthal and others asking for an electric light at Canton and Chippewa. They referred the petition to the light committee. The council reviewed bonds for Charles Gregory to operate a gas plant and sent them to the finance committee with city attorney. The sewer committee recommended awarding the Empire Street contract to Evans & Hoefer at 45 cents per foot, plus lampholes and manholes, and instructed property owners to deposit front-foot payments. An appropriations ordinance for 1907 was adopted. Bills totaling various general expenses were approved for payment. The Rockey stone quarry purchase was tabled for the stone quarry committee with mayor and city engineer to report next meeting. The council then adjourned.
