FIFTH ILLINOIS IS HAPPY Chickamauga Park Ga Aug 3 The Fifth Illinois infantry was ordered to Newport News to report to Brigadier General Fred Grant for embarkation with his brigade to Porto Rico. Colonel Culver announced reductions for noncommissioned officers who acted after the recall and ordered fines for others absent without leave.
