A new manager Mr. Chas. A. Stanfield has taken charge. The shop identifies itself as carrying the best grades of meat only. It offers home delivery and will send a man to any address in the city to solicit meat or grocery orders. Prompt delivery and correction of delays or mistakes are promised.
Bargain Week features 16 pounds of pure granulated sugar for 1 dollar. Santa Claus or Lenox soap in bundles for 5 cents. 10 pound sacks graham flour at sharp prices. Beat laundry starch two pounds for 5 cents. Fresh bread three cents a loaf, fresh oat meal and graham wafers 8 cents per pound. Sugar cured hams per pound and new coconuts 5 cents each. Coffee specials including old government Java and Mocha. Various canned fruits and vegetables at low prices. Golden Palace and Favorite flours offered. Mediterranean oranges 15 cents a dozen.

A remarkable man named J. Joe of London is remembered for harmless mania around pigeon shooting and insisting on the C B V C callout in turn. A gentle, good natured figure, he served as a doctor in the Royal Dragoons about 80 years ago when subalterns played pranks on him. He was a fine pigeon shot and the first of 11 English winners of the Grand Prix at Monte Carlo in 1878.
