A Guthrie dispatch reports a six foot high mile wide flood wave sweeping Cottonwood valley at 6 am, destroying bridges and inundating Guthrie with 80 foot river rise. Dozens of houses flooded, many people clinging to trees, and at least fifty lives feared lost including multiple drownings in a negro settlement. In Mexico Rio Verde valley hailed, killing 41 and wounding many. hailstones over three pounds. A tornado cyclone near Abilene to Salina causes heavy damage and uncertain death toll.
Springfield April 28 The Republican Steering committee discussed incorporating senate first readings including the Humphrey bills but opted not to move them today. The judiciary libel bill was ordered to second reading and made a special order for tomorrow by 28 to 18. A resolution correcting journal votes on a loan of public funds was tabled amid Democratic protests. The contract restraint bill advanced to third reading and probate wills notice to heirs passed.
