In Athens on April 26 observers report a somber view of war prospects yet no panic. Greek resolve remains strong, especially among wounded eager to rejoin the fight. Jacob Hiller aged 107 and his wife 105 near Jackton Michigan celebrate 87 years of marriage. The couple from Canada wed at 20 and 18, moved to Michigan over eighty years ago, and remain active despite blindness. They have eleven children and both men and women in good health, with stories of the War of 1812.
A south bound freight left the rails near Steamboat Hook seven miles north of Eldora at 10 yesterday morning. Engineer Thomas Cregg broke a leg and suffered internal injuries while the fireman and head brake man were badly hurt. Several tramps are believed trapped under the wreck as twenty cars of lumber and flour were destroyed. The cause is rails spreading with damage estimated at 25000 dollars.
The Duchess of York safely gave birth to a daughter at York Cottage, Sandringham, at 3:30 PM yesterday. Both mother and child are in good health, with a Sandringham statement dispelling rumors about the duchess’s health.
Madison Wisconsin April 26 Adjournment till Aug 17 was taken by the Wisconsin legislature at 2 oclock Saturday afternoon. The summer session will be held to adopt the revision of the statutes. One bill was passed taxing sleeping drawing and palace car companies at 4 percent on gross earnings. The vote was a tie in the senate the lieutenant governor casting the deciding vote.

In Hampton on April 26 Judge Weaver presided over a ten day district court trial of J C Long and his wife Anna L Tong charged with murdering Longs teenage daughter Lela by poisoning. The jury returned a not guilty verdict after nearly twenty four hours deliberation. The 16 year old died June 21 1896 from strychnine found in a strawberry. an inquest led to a coroner's jury charging the couple.
Funeral of Hon. W S Holman, longtime fourth district congressman, drew large crowds in Aurora Indiana with the city draped in mourning. Remains lay in state at First Baptist church before burial at the Holman residence and cemetery as citizens and various groups joined the procession.
