Spain to be warned to withdraw in two to three days or face force. Polo to leave US once Cuba law is notified. Senate moves to bolster military strength and recognize Cuban independence.

President McKinley has signed the Cuban resolution today and will inform Congress this afternoon if in session. A forward movement of the navy is anticipated before the week ends as the administration backs the measure.
Lena April 10 residents and visitors figure in a string of social notes. Mrs John Barnes of Orangeville is the guest of her parents Mr and Mrs S D Dodds for a few days. C R Sherman returns to Chicago after a weeks vacation. Dr Allen Salter traveled to Chicago this morning. Mrs M D Buddington and her granddaughter Miss Barnes of South Bend Ind arrived from Chicago. E W Shoesmith and J R Eustice, who spent Sunday with their families in Lena, returned to Chicago last evening. P O Silver of Freeport was a visitor in town Monday. Mrs G N Snapp hosted a small gathering.
