Rail managers and labor leaders discuss sixteen hour day law

In Chicago on April 9 a conference of Western railroad general managers and railway labor leaders met at the Auditorium hotel to review objections to the sixteen hour law effective March 1. The session was executive and secret, chaired by P H Morrissey with managers from major lines and union leaders from locomotive brotherhoods. A joint memorial to Congress to seek modification was the aim, balancing railroad needs with crew welfare. The same day Judge Barnes barred the Associated Building Trades from interfering with Brass & Southard sprinklers, after the firm claimed strikes and obstruction in its sprinkler installation work.
