After a lengthy meeting lasting past 2 a.m., Freeport aldermen unanimously approved Charles E. Gregory's gas franchise. Alderman Louis McGovern led the debate praising the measure for public benefit and opposing consolidation with the old company. City Attorney Mitchell Judge Stearns and Charles F. Franz advised on sections, including bonds and meters, with Mayor Dittmar stating he would sign after reviewing provisions.
