Rumors spread that Pennsylvania and New York officials threaten to enforce laws against coal railroads, pressuring the anthracite trust to conced e to the United Mine Workers. Conferences in New York centered on Senator Platts office with Odell Quay Penrose and Morgan figures. responses from participants were reticent, with an announced end of the talks expected later, and Odell offering no comment.
Reports from New York City this afternoon say conferences held yesterday and today did not resolve the coal strike. Participants included officials from coal roads, Senator Platt, Senators Quay and Pen rose, Governor Odell, and Delaware, Lackawanna and Western President Truesdale. No further talks will occur until Tuesday. Vice President Wilcox of the Delaware and Hudson urged President Roosevelt to pursue action against the United Mine Workers of America, labeled an illegal restraint on trade.

The lesson for 8 o clock is the interchange of thoughts and how to teach. Next Monday evening is urged. Boys Bible class moves from Tuesday to Thursday 8.00 p m. Adult Bible class becomes a Thursday prayer and praise meeting at 8 p m. All are welcome.
A Democratic county committee mass meeting is planned at the Public park tomorrow afternoon at 2 o clock. Speakers include T R Martin of Wilkesbarre candidate for Congress and P A O Boyle of Pittston. Other prominent speakers will address the crowd as will all Democratic ticket candidates. Citizens of Freeland and nearby towns are invited to attend.
Newly elected Mt Horeb Lodge I O O F officers were installed after postponement due to officer absence. Bishop M J Hoban of Scranton will confirm 500 people at St Ann's on Sunday and at St John's Slavonian Church in the afternoon. Earlier, striker Raphael Majir died in a Pittston mine cave-in while his wife survived a train incident. Dancers Robert and George Quigley, famed performers, are booked for Keith theatre circuit engagements in New York Philadelphia Boston and Providence this winter.
