Ten Year Old Girl Helps Foil Burglars in Night Dress
A brave ten year old girl from a neighbor’s house aided a struggling old couple by fleeing in her night dress to summon neighbors. Four armed men raided Edward Moore and his wife at Kitchens Creek early Sunday. Moore was bound and tortured while Mrs Moore denied having money from a land sale. Gunfire erupted as neighbors James Harman and James Franklin returned with rifles and shotguns, pursuing the intruders. One assailant was wounded, others fled, and the trail led to nearby homes as authorities arrested none. The story notes community members arriving home and local residents detailing other visits and activities in the area.
