Accident to Former Resident Archibald Phillips
Archibald Phillips a 19 year old former Gracedale resident suffered severe injuries on the Wilkesbarre mountain at Soloman's Gap. Entangled in a guard rail his feet were crushed by three cars passing over them. Employed by Jersey Central Railroad he was taken to Mercy hospital where both feet were amputated. He is the son of Archie Phillips long associated with the town and White Haven. He is expected to recover from the injuries.

Successful Operation and Return of Thomas Evans
Thomas Evans returned from Philadelphia where he witnessed an operation on his son Thomas for appendicitis. The University of Pennsylvania hospital performed the procedure, described as successful in every respect, and the patient is rapidly recovering.
