The appeal highlights clothing, furnishings, hats, shoes, dry goods, notions and more. Prices are described as low at present, with aims at pleasing relatives and friends during the holiday season.
John Shigo at 144 South Centre Street advertises two large store rooms packed with Toys, Novelties, Candy, Confec tionery, Fruits, Nuts, Smokers' Supplies. They promise unmatched low prices and the largest, prettiest lines of Toys in town, with an even more complete assortment this year.
James E. Roderick announced district allocations for Luzerne Lackawanna Schuylkill Northumberland and Columbia regions at Hotel Sterling Wilkes Barre. Seventeen inspectors cover fifteen districts with mine counts ranging from seven to thirty six. The Ninth district holds thirty six mines requiring future staffing, while Eleventh and Fourteenth districts are constrained by existing law and mine sizes.
The Fifteenth district with seven mines is the sole author ity in its area leaving no mechanism for additional aid outside. Luzerne county districts are split among Hugh McDonald P M Boyle Edward Reynolds David T Davis and David J Roderick with boundaries along Wilkes Barre Kingston Glen Lyon and the Lackawanna line and including the Parrish Coal Company area and Hazleton region.
Santa Claus arrival cantata presented at St John’s Reformed Church by the Sunday school, drawn a large crowd last night. Tonight at 7:30 the full program repeats to accommodate those who could not attend, with Charles H. Wolfe in the title role and a large cast of children and young people performing twenty numbers in an appreciative program.
Friends of Mrs Messina Hoch of Allentown were shocked to learn of her death at the family home on 238 Peach Street. Aged 57 years and 8 months she is survived by husband Conrad Hoch, a stepson George Sheaman of Freeland, and stepdaughter Annie Sheaman of Allentown. The funeral is planned for Tuesday in Allentown.

J. Purcell and James Lindsay in Bethlehem, John Powell, Richard Cunningham and William Lesser from Lehigh University, William F. Gallagher in Hartford, Conn, Thomas Sloan in Tamaqua, Harry Brobst in New York City, and Dr. John Houston in Philadelphia.
December 31 marks the fourteenth annual ball of the Tigers Athletic Club to be held at Krell's hall with admission set at 50 cents.
St Marys Institute of Wilkesbarre defeated the Crescent club 8 to 6 at Krells hall in a hotly contested game before the largest crowd of the season. Stolz left with a knock but was replaced by Nowak, Whalen sustained a cut yet continued, and Powell refereed with praise. The Crescents led second half scoring 6 to 4 but fell short despite strong play.
The Good Will Athletic Association hosted a well received evening at the Grand Opera House with a large audience. Performers included Marie O'Donnell Hazleton Marie Gallagher Wilkes Barre Mary Ellen Carr Highland Nellia Quinn Crifton Annie Bonoma Millie Bonoma Teresa Meehan Freeland Daniel Hayes Weatherly Daniel Brady Jeddo John Price James Gallagher Michael Jacobs Hugh Cunningham James Gillespie Freeland and St Ann's band performed several selections.
Judge Lynch issues opinion in the case of District Attorney B R Jones versus Luzerne county. The suit sought 5000 dollars a year under a statute setting DA salaries for large counties, but the court follows Supreme Court decisions and holds the law does not apply to Jones. The judge fixes Jones's salary at 4000 dollars per year.

A servant girl caught him and screamed bringing assistance. O'Brien robbed other places.
Happenings of the past two days in Freeland report coal shortages affecting eastern cities, Dominic Kelly moving to Trenton for work, silk mill workers receiving Christmas gifts, and renovations at the Grand Opera house. Also noted are the deaths of Billy Boy Williams and Micholas Heblich, a new smallpox case in Edwardsville, and other local happenings amid national labor activity and public notices.
Rev F Marshal will speak at Sunday devotional at 3 20 PM inviting both sexes to attend. Young men show interest in new shuffleboard and volleyball games in the rooms. Ladies Auxiliary plans New Year Eve entertainment with hypnotism by Prof Dane Heck and a musical program. Children under fifteen must be with parents. Mine workers notice for Local Union 1930 UMWA to meet Friday evening at the Municipal building for important business.
