Commission Takes Recess During Strike Hearings
At the Strike Commission hearing in Scranton miners rebutted testimony about a 200-strong mob stopping work. Foreman David Lewis said he was blocked, with a photo prompting laughter from Judge Gray. Teacher Transferred After School Board Meeting
At a Foster township school board meeting Miss May Roth, teacher at Sandy Run, was transferred to Upper Lehigh high to fill the vacancy created by Mrs. Schatzle’s resignation. Directors Johnson, Dudley, and Zelstroft voted in favor, with O'Neill opposing. The Sandy Run school will close for now as attendance no longer warrants two primary teachers.

Drowned man Newell 19 in Lehigh River near White Haven

Happenings of the past two days in Freeland include two Christmas afternoon basketball games for one admission, with the Crescent and Mauch Chunk teams meeting and a home clash between local clubs. Gifts will be given to Coxe Bros. & Co employees’ children, presented by Coxe ladies from Drifton. Don Herron, ex-resident, lost an arm in a Jersey City railroad accident. Mrs. Bridget Brannigan, aged 102, has moved to the Laurytown almshouse. Connie Conahan was injured at Highland colliery and is being treated at his father’s home. The late Mrs. Patrick McMadden’s funeral drew many South Side friends. James Quinn sustained severe burns from a gas explosion at Highland No. 2 colliery.
