Leases shift for No 1 coal area to Jeddo firm
The low coal workings at No 1 colliery, now leased by Cross Creek, will be leased after January 1 by G JB Markle & Co of Jeddo. Drifton operators will not renew. Markle plan a tunnel from No 4 Oakdale to access coal on the Jeddo side. Miners will transfer to No 2 colliery and the big vein.

Fire damages Burke hotel in Pittston
