Coal prospect to revive Sheppton described in Mahanoy City paper
The Sheppton area in Union township Schuylkill county is slated for revival with the opening of the Doll Shepp and Silliman coal tract. John Skeath and a wealthy syndicate explored the land with C Hoover of Pond Creek colliery and found coal thick and quality good. A deal with the syndicate, led by Mr Lathrop of White Haven area investors, may secure the tract and begin mining, promising new life and higher real estate values for Sheppton.

A postmistress in Deman's Corners obtained a warrant against her intoxicated husband for interfering with the mail, leading to his arrest and probation for the couple.
