Local land registration urged to stay cheap deals
A 1851 appeal argues against a centralised registration bill. It urges local registry offices in England to keep conveyance costs down, noting Yorkshire and Middlesex offices raise fees. Meeting on Balloting for Shares in selovement estate
A meeting at the Guildhall on Tuesday April 8 discussed allotments in the Hereford side Hunderton estate. Twenty nine plots average about a quarter acre, costing around £27 each plus conveyance. Each share yields 40s annual value and possession for farming begins soon. T. Jenkins plans to use one share for a model hollow brick cottage and to exchange another with a backward-working member. The Ross Society president has sold two shares at a premium and given surplus to the society. The president and supporters may advance modest loans to poorer members for improved self built dwellings, secured until liquidation.
