Large delegations from five counties are expected to attend the Poultry Show to be held at Groupe Hall on November 29 and 30. The event, sponsored by county poultry associations, aims to boost interest in accredited breeders and engage local poultrymen.
Mrs Felix Holmig hosted a Monday night lawn party beside the Pedernales River to honor Miss Else Grobe. After games and refreshments, Miss Grobe will travel to San Antonio to pursue nursing studies at a hospital program.
One Mexican man identified as Santos 30 years old dies after an early Wednesday auto crash. Two friends in the car are seriously injured, with severe bruises to the head and body. Santos is buried with military honors by Louis Jordan Post as Rev. H Gerlach officiates.
An election will be held at the Courthouse in Fredericksburg on October 22 to decide if the unincorporated town shall be incorporated under the Commission Form of government. A Mayor and two Commissioners will be elected to serve until the first Tuesday in April following, and until their successors are elected and qualified.
On Thursday evening September 5 the Ladies Aid Organization hosts an event with the Singing Club and the Evangelical Church Orchestra to celebrate 35 years since the church dedication. Chili ice cream ham sandwiches chicken and refreshments will be served.
The Fredericksburg event draws Austin delegates visiting the Gillespie County fair and the Texas State exposition. Leaders praise Fredericksburg’s hospitality, plan future visits, and note a push for improved mail service and regional trade opportunities as a new road links Austin to the town.
County agents from six counties plan a Sept 22 tour starting at Fredericksburg Courthouse at 1 PM to inspect Kneese orchards Otto William Louis and top worked trees of Frank Willman. Observation aims to aid future top working. local pecan growers urged to attend.
Fehrenbach Motor Co reports deliveries to Arthur Keller and Wm Pape Chevrolet touring cars and to John Shelton a Chevrolet roadster.
After a week at Mrs H Kuenemann s home Mr Rieh traveled to San Antonio accompanied by Mrs H Kuenemann and her son August who spent a week visiting in the city.
Mr Ad Staudt and family and Mr Arthur Schaetter and family came back from a business and pleasure trip to San Antonio. Mrs Hermann Grobe and Mrs Otto Nagel and baby returned from a pleasure trip to Hondo San Antonio and New Braunfels with Mr Alfred Ochler and family of San Antonio. Messrs B Woods and R M Chamberlin Ford reps at Houston were in town last Monday. After a week with Mr and Mrs Herm Schoene wolf, Mr and Mrs Alex Molsz berger went home to San Antonio. Statistics published thanks to Mr Max Wahrmund show 207 bales ginned in Gillespie County by Sept 1 1924, vs 406 last year. Texas total 680842 in 1924, 1089530 in 1923, and 564957 in 1922.
Austin moves to establish mail service now with urgency. Sixty days may be too late while ninety days will be too late, signaling immediate action is needed to secure postal access.
The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce committee meets to organize a three hundred strong booster trip to the Austin Fair. Fredericksburg ribbons and banners will mark the parade with the Concert Band leading the way. Participants are to meet near the courthouse at 6 30 AM on a October date and notify the secretary about transportation. Mr. Fritz Joseph and Arthur Hohmann lead efforts for the band and parade, inviting Gillespie County to join for a day of pleasure and entertainment.
The district court in Gillespie County convened Tuesday morning September 16. Several criminal and civil cases were heard or scheduled, including driving without due care, embezzlement, incest, unlawful pistol, and fraud charges. Dismissals on attorney motions and bonds set were noted. juries were demanded in some civil actions and several default judgments recorded.
Mr A L Ahrens completed a business trip to the Alamo area and returned with plans to pursue fresh opportunities. He met with local partners and discussed potential collaborations for the coming quarter.
Mrs. Wm. Nimitz of Kerrville stayed with the Chas Nimitz family last Monday. A new showing of the film The Hunchback of Notre Dame will take place at Klaerner's Opera House on October 31, November 1, and 2. The picture, recently premiering in the northern United States, has earned high praise and is billed as worth seeing in our city.
County Supervisor Tom Johnson reports cattle losses from a disease affecting livestock. Louis Lindig lost eight head, with Ad Gellermann and others among the losers. Vaccination efforts will aim to curb further deaths. Disease appears confined to the county's north end.
Mr and Mrs L S Toft of the Alamo City visited relatives and friends in our burg the latter part of last week.
