Saengerfest Opens in San Antonio With 17 Choirs
Three Fredericksburg choirs join 14 others for the 83rd Texanisches Gebirgs Saengerfest in San Antonio. Hosts include Sidney Henke and Beethoven Maennerchor. Two concerts set for 7 30 p m Saturday and 2 30 p m Sunday at the air conditioned Villita Assembly Building. A Saturday program begins at 1 30 p m with a welcome reception and a Kommers at 3 p m. A business meeting will be held Sunday at 10 a m at the Beethoven Home.

Rev David Heidtke Accepts Call To Taylor Church
The Rev. David Heidtke, Zion Lutheran Church pastor for four years, announced he accepted a call to St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Taylor. Balser and Davidson Injured In Auto Accident
C. O. Balser and A. G. Davidson, partners in Balser and Davidson Accounting, were injured four miles west of Harper on U S Highway 290 at 6 p m Thursday. Balser suffered a fractured knee cap and a shattered ankle with multiple cuts. Davidson had numerous cuts and bruises. Balser underwent leg surgery in San Antonio and returned to Fredericksburg Hospital Monday afternoon. Davidson was released to his home after Sunday.

Rain Breaks Drought With Heavy Four Day Fall
Four days of rain eased drought across Gillespie County with up to 9.55 inches at the Levy Ersch place in Crabapple, and 3 to 6 inches in Doss Willow City Cherry Springs Luckenbach Stonewall Albert Morris Ranch and Harper. The Crabapple Creek flooded closing bus routes as a cool front moved in, bringing winds and minor damage including a roof blown off Melvin Beckmann’s trailer home. Fredericksburg recorded 3.15 inches in the same period.
