Hunting Season Opens With Buck Rush In Hill Country
The 1972 big Eight-point buck season kicks off Saturday morning with numerous deer blinds across the Hill Country as nimrods await the legal 51-day hunt ending January 2 1972. Deer are reported plentiful and in good condition due to fall rains and lush grass. The Standard will prize the first two buck deer reported to its office. Continued on page 4 sec 1.

District 10 Library Association representatives met in Fredericksburg Texas on Saturday November 6 with Pioneer Memorial Library as host. The program included registration hospitality and a luncheon with speakers from San Antonio College and a tour of local sites. New officers were elected with Ben W. Bradley chairing and Miss Lois Eakin as vice chair.

Top Angus Bull Sells For 3200 At Hill Country Sale
The top selling bull at the Hill Country Angus Association Bull Sale went for 3200 dollars to Rancr Ranch of Spring Branch. The October 1969 bull started the gain test at 1032 pounds and finished at 1580 after 140 days, with an average daily gain of 2.15 pounds per day of age. Several other high selling bulls and buyers are listed, along with the organization’s annual meeting and new officers.

Central Texas Electric Lets Bid For Headquarters Building Addition
The Central Texas Electric Cooperative awarded Blanchard Associates of Fredericksburg the $74,444 bid to add 3,200 square feet of offices at the Fredericksburg headquar ters. W C McWilliams, manager, said five months construction time is planned and work starts when materials and labor are available. The expansion, first since 1954, aims to accommodate growth across eleven counties and future service increases. No customer disruption is expected.
