Cross-sea flight ends with dramatic harbor landing
Commander Richardson recounts NC-3’s 1200 nautical mile flight from Trepassey to Lisbon with a hazardous sea landing near Horta, enduring 30-foot seas and 45-mph winds. After repairs and continued repairs at sea, the craft reached Ponta Delgada, then Madeira, ending in a triumphant harbor reception at Lisbon with Admiral Jackson and local dignitaries applauding the crew.
