Wild Turkeys Benefit From Rains In Texas

The Assistant Director of Wildlife Restoration for the Texas Game and Fish Commission said recent rains aided wildlife across most of the state during the spring nesting period. The moisture boosted food and cover for deer and other game, though drought persists in parts of South and West Texas. The Hill country, supplying about 90 percent of Texas turkey hunting, has had three years with poor hatch, risking brood stocks without rain for nesting. Field reports describe spring prospects as generally good except for drought-affected areas.
