Terraces Boost West Texas Farm Yields and Water Conservation
Wylie Pate, Weribest farmer, reports terraces worth over 1000 dollars and rising yields. Since adopting a complete conservation system in 1936 with the Soil Conservation Service, his 219 acre farm on 4.5 miles of terraces holds runoff from 100 acres, improves cotton and seed yields, and makes cultivation easier.
