Oscar J Fox to Appear in Fredericksburg Concert
Oscar J Fox a San Antonio folk song composer will perform in the High School Auditorium Friday April 9 at 8 pm under the Fredericksburg Music Study Club. Soloists Marjorie McClung and Earnhardt Tiede join him with sixty cent admission. Fox, a Texas composer born 1879 in Burnet County, reflects frontier life in his music.

Work Underway On New Building At Public School
Work is well underway on a new 30 by 100 foot building on the northeast corner of Fredericksburg Public School campus. The structure will house vocational training athletic fieldhouse and bus storage to accommodate enlarged enrollment. Hugo Klaerner, maintenance foreman, leads the project with basement completed and ground floor framing in progress.

Gillespie County Fair Association reports 1947 surplus and improvements
The Gillespie County Fair Association released a 1947 financial statement prepared by Balser Davis and Davidson showing a gross income of 24 429 66 and expenditures of 21 760 70 with a cash balance of 1 554 98. Profits funded permanent grounds improvements including a new white board fence around the track and 40 new stalls at a cost of 3 352 16 and show barn painting and sewer connections. Concession sales produced the largest revenue at 14 583 31, merchandise costs were 8 904 19, leaving a gross profit of 5 679 12.

Business Firms Close Friday for Good Friday Observance
Fredericksburg businesses will close all day Friday March 26 in observance of Good Friday. The closed facilities include general merchandise stores banks courthouse and city offices. The AAA offices and Post Office stay open. Churches hold services statewide with Lutheran Holy Communion and Methodist evening programs.

Harper Voters to Decide School Bond Issue April 3
Harper Independent School District voters will decide on increasing bonded indebtedness from 25 000 to 70 000 on April 3 along with trustees elections. The 45 000 bond funds would finish a long planned school plant, payable over 25 years based on district valuation of 1 055 335 for 1947 48. Easter Fire tradition lights up Fredericksburg hills

San Angelo Woman Critically Injured In Auto Crash
Mrs. Rose Schuler Barnett 52 of San Angelo suffered critical head and body injuries in a two thirty p m crash on the Mason Highway fourteen miles from town. Her car left the road, crossed the opposite side, tore down a fence and tree before overturning in a pasture. she was thrown from the wreck and hospitalized in Fredericksburg in extremely critical condition.
