Insect Control In Peanuts Boosts Yields Says King
College Station report by C A King Jr entomologist notes peanut yields rise about 300 pounds per acre after leaf spot and leaf hopper control. Tests in Georgia and Virginia show dusting starts with first spots on lower leaves around 60 65 days after planting for Spanish peanuts and 10 days later for other varieties. Dusting with sulphur or copper sulphur dust and Bordeaux spraying were used. Under Texas conditions, dusting or spraying peanuts three or four times at two week intervals yields good results.
