Bonn plans a Guatemala visit to observe agricultural interests, returning to Houston by plane.

Thirteen Gillespie Youths Honored With FFA Awards
Thirteen Gillespie youths and men connected with the Fredericksburg Future Farmer of America chapter were honored at the state FFA convention in Houston last week. Eleven Lone Star Farmer degrees and two honorary Lone Star Farmer degrees were awarded to local youths and men, led by Melvin Bonn who also won the Star Lone Star Farmer award. The Fredericksburg chapter had the largest Lone Star Farmer output in Texas.

Commissioners To Furnish Harper Kerr Right Of Way
Gillespie County Commissioners Court approved right of way for the Harper Kerrville Farm to Market road from Kerr County line to U S 290 at Harper. The court also reviewed county finances, ordered 45,000 dollars to be allocated to precincts from the highway fund, and set June 28 for Board of Equalization meetings.

City to observe July Fourth holiday in Fredericksburg
July Fourth is moved to Monday July fifth in Fredericksburg as decided by the Trades Extension Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. All business houses will close to allow employees to join the celebration at Fair Park since the Fourth falls on a Sunday.

Booster trips will visit surrounding towns to promote a three day race meet July 3 to 5, jointly sponsored by Gillespie Fair Association and Louis Jordan Post. Fred Mathisen chairs. a musical group will back the boosters. Six races daily with $100 purses plus 10 percent, and a $200 derby final day. Two ball games on July 4 and July 5, dances each night, stores to close July 5 for holiday observance.

Junior Giants To Play Three Games in Next Two Weeks
Fredericksburg Junior Giants, sponsored by the Louis Jordan Post in the American Legion program, schedule three district games against Lampasas over two weeks. First game is June 29 in Lampasas opening their municipal park, with a July 5 return in Fredericksburg. A third game date will be decided later if needed to break a tie and determine the district champion before July 18. An exhibition July 2 at Seipp's Park features Comfort high school. Yankees Stage June Baseball Tryout Camp at Fair Park
The New York Yankees announce a scouting led tryout camp at Fair Park from June 29 to 30 starting 10 a.m. Scouts Wally Berger and Ernest Lor beer will run the event. Players must cover their own costs and gear unless signed. Last year fifty five boys attended in Fredericksburg with two reaching pro contracts. Berger brings a long pro career and prior Navy coaching experience to the tryout.

Fredericksburg Chamber Set to Host June Meeting With Price Daniels
Several hundred members and guests of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce will attend the annual meeting on Thursday night June 24 at 8 pm in Fair Park. Texas Attorney General Price Daniels will speak, introduced by Representative Tom Martin. Robert W. Klingelhoefer will be toastmaster. The program includes performances by St. Marys and Fredericksburg High School groups, a business meeting, and six director positions. Tickets for a barbecue banquet are 1.25 and must be eaten with own knife and fork. Nine nominees listed for six director seats with on floor nominations allowed.

St Mary's Alumni Hold 18th Reunion And Meeting
St Marys High School alumni held their 18th annual reunion with a morning business session after mass.
