Farewell Dance for Fredricksburg Society Pair

Miss Vila Wahrmund and Mr. Edgar Klaerner, popular Fredricksburg social figures, were honored at a farewell dance at Klaerner's opera house. About sixty couples attended and danced for hours. Wahrmund left Monday for the Summer Normal at San Marcos, while Klaerner heads to San Antonio to join his parents, now residents there.

Mad Dog Scare On East Side Ends in Killing

A large dog caused a panic on an east side street at noon on Thursday as it staggered about snapping at fences and biting the earth. Residents beat a retreat and killed the animal before it could attack anyone.

Cain City Notes Ball Game Victory for Cain City 4 to 2

Sunday’s game saw Cain City prevail over Stonewall 4 to 2. Gillespie County Farmers Institute Organized

Between 40 and pu prominent farmers met in the Buckhorn saloon hall last Saturday afternoon and organized a Farmers Institute for Gillespie County. The new group has about 35 to 40 members and officers were elected Chris Mathiesen president Aug Rabke vice president Wm Pape secretary.

Funeral for Gillespie County stockman Mr Wilhelm Herbert

Mr Wilhelm Herbert a prominent stockman and farmer of Gillespie County died at his daughter s home in Fredericksburg on Thursday morning at 62 years 6 months and 4 days. He had been ill about a year and a half after traveling to the city for medical care. Survived by daughters Mesdames Frank Knaupp Albert Klett Alfred Gold Ad Stahl Alvin Stahl. Funeral held at Cave Creek cemetery Friday with Rev Hannemann conducting.

Obituary: Mrs August Behrends Dies After Illness

Mrs August Behrends died unexpectedly May 30 after an operation for complications. She was 49 years, 2 months, 14 days. Survived by husband and several children. Funeral held next day at family cemetery in Luetenbach. Rev K Konzack conducted service. Sympathies extended from numerous relatives and friends. Friends plan steps to ensure two fiscal years of operation while lawyers question the governor's power to close a constitutional state institution. Compel Cultivation Aims to Put Idle Mexican Lands to Use

In Mexico City on June 6 President Carranza ordered state governors to compel landowners to allow cultivation of unused lands to secure food supplies. Mexicans returning from the United States during the European war will receive free interior transport and farm work.
