Jury Discharged in Stabbing Trial in Austin
The jury in the Ed Swearingen case was discharged after four hours without a verdict. Twelve jurors reported an eight to four vote for acquittal. Swearingen faced charges of stabbing Carter Flowers in December 1927 over an automobile dispute. the defense argued intoxication and marijuana use affected responsibility.
