Ranger Days By Taylor Thompson Incident
In autumn 1846 a thirteen ranger squad near Hebronville in Webb county pursued a large Indian raiding party driving stolen horses. After a brutal three hour chase the rangers formed a defensive circle, repelled multiple horsemen at close range, and with aid from Corporal Justo Rodriguez and a sharpshooter Miguel Maitmoras, withdrew to a river crossing before marching to a Mexican settlement on the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass.
