Rev F W Radetzky united Romilda Kneese and Edwin Ketron in marriage on July 17 at the M E Church South. Attendants were Clara Ketron Meta Kneese Benno Kirchner and Harry Dietz. They reside in Fredericksburg where Ketron works for Southwest Granite Company.
Last week the installation of a large modern sea plane counter with a Kelvinator electric unit was completed at R Henke's Butcher Shop. The showcase style counter lets customers view a wide variety of meats.
Mrs E L Walter and her daughter returned last Sunday from a several weeks visit with her parents and other relatives at Menard.
Mrs Lena Ernst and Mrs Marshall entertained with guests Sunday including Mr and Mrs W L McDougall of San Antonio Mr and Mrs Clarence Ernst and Mr and Mrs Marvin Ernst of Harper.
Citizens urged to study appellate judge records before voting in the Fourth Supreme Judicial District and Texas Court of Criminal Appeals races. Endorsements favor Judge W. C. Morrow Edward Smith by Gillespie Officials and lawyers Max Blum Alfred Petsch Herman Usener Walter Petsch H. H. Sagebiel.
List of prizes for goat shows and farm exhibits at the Fredericksburg fair August 24 25 26 1928. Awards include cash for buck and doe classes goat kid and flock categories with sponsors J M Lea Oscar Krauskopf and local merchants for best corn oats wheat cotton penmanship butter and various farm exhibits.
The Gillespie County Democrats call a meeting in the District Court room on Monday July 30 1928 at eight o clock P M. All Democrats are urged to attend. R W Klingelhoefer.
Messrs. Ad F Schmidt and Elmon Grona form a partnership to run Schmidty's Vulcanizing and Tire Co in the former Quality Cash Grocery building. They will offer tire and tube repairs and a standard line of tires and tubes, opening August 1. Mrs. J H Heiner has returned from Nordheim.
Both banks will be closed today Saturday due to Election Day. No banking services will be available, and customers are advised to plan accordingly.
Messrs. Benno and Oscar Stehling returned from a combined business and pleasure trip to San Antonio last Tuesday.
Mr and Mrs Harry Klein and Miss Mary Klein of San Antonio spent last Sunday with relatives at Stonewall.
Mrs. G. L. Teague returns from a lengthy visit to relatives in north central Texas. The Cherry Springs Lutheran congregation plans a church picnic at Cherry Springs school house on Wednesday August 1. The program will be shown in another column.
A joint committee of the Retail Merchants Association and the Trade Extension Committee of the local Chamber of Commerce finalized plans for a cooperative advertising Trades Day campaign. Merchants will sign up, issue 50 cent tickets for customers, and a drawing will award over fifty prizes on September 5th with a central collection of stubs.
Dooley's stock has moved to the Striegler Building next to Juenke and Schoenewolf, future site of Dooley's 5-10-25e Store. The Schneider building room becomes HQ for Quality Cash Grocery under Ruben Bernhard. Buildings renovated for new business use. Max Joseph and family return from Manor, Giddings, and Austin trip.
Messrs. Walter Loudon Emil Koch Walter Schneider and Paul Weber made a business trip to San Antonio Thursday.
Mrs. C L Beyer of San Antonio spent last week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Chas Herber at Willow City.
Missidwina Jordan spends the week visiting her sisters Miss Monica Jordan and Mrs. Arthur Heimann in San Antonio.
The City of Kerrville grieves the sudden death of Professor Anton Ernst from the Sehreiner Institute faculty. He taught French, led the music department, directed the Kerrville Band, and headed the institute musical organization.
