Forty seven young men from Gillespie County are called into service and will depart Fredericksburg on July 26 to join the U S Army training camps at San Antonio. The list includes Max Knopp Robert Peter Knopp August John Kritz Edwin Lumel Arthur Wittkohl and many others. The men are described as the county’s best specimens of manhood and will augment Uncle Sam’s new army.
