Historic Mormon timber in early Texas settlement documented
John and Dorothea Weinheimer Cotter of San Antonio present two photos showing how Mormon timbers from the Pedernales River settlement near Zodiac were used in building a Jacob Weinheimer home and the original temple structure. The top image dates to about 1921 and the bottom to November 1967. The Cotters trace the 1847 Mormon presence east of Fredericksburg, their temple, saw and grist mill, and store, with later relocation after a flood, and recount how Jacob Weinheimer and sons reused temple timbers in a five room log house in 1854.
