School Building Committee Considers Three Plans for Modernization
The meeting chaired by R. G. Striegler reviewed sketches from architect H. F. Kuehne including remodelling the current building, attaching an annex, or an entirely new structure with auditorium sizes from 500 to 700 seats. Costs ranged from about 12,000 to 87,000 dollars, with bids to be sought and possible plan changes later. The session also notes the consolidation of two local lodges into Fredericksburg Lodge and outlines new officer elections and initiations.

Poultry Culling Demonstrations Reported by County Agent
County agent R. B Miller conducted poultry culling demonstrations in several county communities. At Chr Mathisen’s farm, eleven culls and twelve good layers were tested over forty seven days. culls produced one egg while good layers produced thirty. The best culling period is September to November with multiple tests used to judge layers including shank and beak color, pelvis bone width, and yolk pigment use. Late molt ers often become better layers. Proper culling and pairing with high egg laying roosters can raise egg production to 100 150 eggs per year within one to three years.
