Arthur Brisbane argues Bolshevism fuels unemployment stigma while praising national wealth yet highlighting illiteracy, labor hardship, and propaganda influence. He notes U S economic dominance, consumer shares, and global disparity, concluding prosperity rests on abundance rather than need.
Representative Petsch announces that the Hill Country fishing law was amended this session to lower catfish size from eleven to nine inches and remove the March and April closed season. Catfish may be caught year round with only the nine inch minimum. trot lines remain banned, and other familiar regulations stay in effect. The change aims to restore the region’s depleted catfish population.
The county commission's court devoted much of its term to roads. Overseers were named for precincts 1 through 44 with a long list of appointees, funds allocated to precincts, and a land donation from Albert Segner to widen Llano road. Election judges were also appointed for Peters Hall.
The District Court for Gillespie County opened Monday with Judge J. H. Merean presiding and all officers present. Grand Jury impaneled with twelve jurors named and four excused. Alfred Neffendorf chosen grand jury foreman and Max T. Henke as clerk. Andreas Finkernagel naturalized as US citizen. One misdemeanor case State v Manley Haley, defendant guilty, fined ten dollars and costs. Tuesday’s session continued on page.
A new civic club named Fredericksburg Speakers Club organized Monday night with young men aiming to improve public speaking and parliamentary knowledge. Felix G. Stehling chaired the meeting, Charles Von Rosenberg was elected temporary chairman, and charter members were listed. next meeting set for February 14 in the American Legion rooms to adopt by laws and elect permanent officers.
Fredericksburg Spring Style and Fashion Revue at the Palace Theatre Thursday night proved a huge success in fashion and entertainment. Ernie De Von served as master of ceremonies while J A G Club girls and the Palace Orchestra performed. Manager Stahl and participating merchants hosted seventy five guests at a midnight Traveler's Cafe banquet with De Von presiding over toasts.
Esther Prochnow of Gold and Ewald Luckenbach united in marriage at St Paul Church Cave Creek 18. Attendants included Paula Eckhar Prochnow, Dougall, Alfred, Behrends and Nelda Elgin Mc Wunderlich. A wedding feast followed for the party and guests. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Fernando Prochnow. groom is the son of Mr August Behrends. The couple resides at LueneKbach.
Edward Rhode of New Braunfels died last Monday evening. His interment followed Wednesday afternoon. Bud Barker and his son from Menard were noted visitors in Fredericksburg during the first days of the week.
Fredericksburg groups led by the Lions Club and school auxiliaries plan a county wide program to immunize children aged 1 to 12 against diphtheria. The effort, endorsed by Dr. Anderson and the Texas State Health Department, offers two injections per child with charges as low as 50 cents, and some cases free for the very poor.
The Standard Motor Co announces February 28 relocation of the Chevrolet Business from next to the Bank of Fredericksburg to the Palace Theatre Building. Opening March 1 1930 invites friends to inspect the modern facility in West Texas as part of the Baby Beef Show Renue 1 at Fredericksburg. Mrs August C Jordan Miss Meta Jordan and Reuben Jordan spent Sunday in Buda with Arthur F Jordan and family. H A Riess won an Electric Urn at the Openin g. Mrs Marie Clark aged 42 died February 20 in Fredericksburg. body shipped to Sour Lake Hardin County for interment February 23. no relatives in Fredericksburg. she had come with her husband to regain health.
William Henke Sr. died February 19 at 4 30 PM aged 81 years 10 months 18 days from a stroke of apoplexy. Born May 1 1884 in Braunschwieg Germany he moved to the county in 1871 bought a Wolf’s Creek ranch and resided there until death. Survived by his widow Ida Kott ten children August Herman Alfred William Mrs Eddie Broad Mrs Bruno Urkharat and others including grandchildren. Funeral by Rev. Arthur Koerner Thursday followed by interment at Morris Ranch cemetery.
Postmaster A H Kneese reports Gold Post Office to close after March 1 but the route will continue serving residents. Mail to Gold is redirected to Willow City. customers must install regulated mail boxes along the route for delivery starting March 3, three times weekly on Monday Wednesday and Friday.
Fred Hitzfeld born Stonewall Texas June 27 1887 died at age 43. He married Neltonie Goehmann May 13 1914 and left five children Fritz Mae Lorin Joy and one died in infancy. Survived by widow mother Fritz, three daughters, four brothers and three sisters. Interment February 19 at City Cemetery with Rev Gammenthaler officiating.

The issue also reports Stehling Electric Co. moving to the William Schneider Building opposite the Bank of Fredericksburg by Feb 22 with a Westinghouse colors front as the new electrification dealer.
