Mrs Henry Alberthal nee Lina Langehennig died at Cherry Mountain February 10 at 5 AM after a long illness. Born September 1 1866 she was 66 years 5 months 9 days old. She married Henry Alberthal March 8 1886 and they lived at North Grape Creek until 1903 then Cherry Mountain. Survived by husband 12 children 22 grandchildren two brothers two sisters and many relatives. Funeral Saturday 2 PM from the Ahrens residence with burial in City Cemetery a quartet sang at the grave.
John Young died at his home in Fredericksburg Wednesday morning at one o'clock. Interment followed at Young's Chapel Cemetery Wednesday afternoon at 3:30. Obituary details were not available at the time of writing.
Federal Revenue Agent will be at the Courthouse at Fredericksburg on March 4 to assist local citizens in preparing income tax returns.
The February term of the Gillespie County District Court will open Monday under newly elected District Judge Lamar Thaxton of Mason. Mr and Mrs Gerhard celebrated their twenty fifth wedding anniversary at their Cave Creek home on February 11. Relatives and friends enjoyed music dancing and games then extended congratulations for many more years together.
Mr Harry Schwarz aged 44 years 27 days died suddenly at his home on February 16 cause apoplexy. Funeral from family residence Saturday at 2 PM with burial in City Cemetery.
Mrs Henry Schneider nee Johanette Hein died Sunday morning at 6 at the family home in San Antonio. The body was brought to Fredericksburg where services were held at her sister Lisittle Mueller's home. Interment followed in City Cemetery with a quartet led by Charles Klaerner performing. She was born November 19 1862 in Frohnmhausen Germany and immigrated to Texas in 1885. She and Henry Schneider lived in Fredericksburg Live Oak Blanco and San Antonio. The couple had eight children eight grandchildren and a brother in Germany plus three sisters and many relatives. Her husband and six sons Albert Felix Adolf Max Emil Theodore survive along with other relatives.
Mr A J Lochte of Kerrville is appointed sales agent for Underwood Elliott Fisher Co covering Gillespie County. Oliver Kowert is named to represent him in the county and will provide prompt service on all typewriter matters.
Professor Harper Rawlings announces changes to the Gillespie County Agricultural Day at Fredericksburg High School on February 18. Hon. Coke Stevenson will speak at 10 AM, shifting judging to 11 AM, with an added afternoon feature by Superintendent A Woods at 2 PM.
Thirty Freericksburg girls compete for Miss Fredericksburg 1933 at the Palace Theatre Friday night February 17. Three out of town judges rate poise personality and beauty. Champion receives engraved loving cup. Pageant directed by P H H LeBlanc with an extra film program featuring Hot Saturday and two shorts.
Ferdinand Luckenbach of Fredericksburg died Wednesday at 7 in his home from a heart attack. Born December 1, 1861 in Luckenbach, he married Elisa Schupp in 1884 and lived in Luckenbach, San Antonio, San Angelo, then Fredericksburg. Survived by four sons Ben Roy Eddie Western, two daughters, 20 grandchildren, and several siblings. Funeral Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Bethany Church. interment City Cemetery.
Miss Ella Schlaudt and Mr Christian Brown were seen visiting San Antonio during the past week, signaling a social engagement or informal gathering in the city.
In the district court room on Tuesday night Fredericksburg Giants reorganized with Felix Saenger elected manager for the coming season. Saenger previously led the team to the Hill Country League title in 1930 and topped the standings in 1931 before a playoff loss to the Llano Cowpoys. Paul Knopp, a prior playing manager in 1932, declined renomination but offered strong support to the former pilot as directors were named for 1933.
Mr and Mrs John Eckert of Mason celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on a Tuesday February 14 with relatives and friends. Attending were their children and spouses including Mrs Phillip Rode, Mrs Conrad Hartmann, Alfred Eckert, Mrs Herman Grona, and Edgar Eckert, with Fredericksburg relatives Chas Klaerner Louis Klaerner Alfred Klaerner Henry Meyer Adolf Burrer and families.
James S. Turrentine died at Fort Sam Houston Station Hospital on Wednesday February 15 at age 36 years 7 months 27 days. The body was moved to Fredericksburg by land. Interment followed Friday at 9 30 in St Mary’s Church Cemetery. An obituary will follow.
George Nixon longtime Llano County resident died at his home near Llano on February 7. He was born February 15, 1871 at Squaw Creek Gillespie County and married Olga Mothe in 1900, with four children from that union. Surviving are Marvin Nixon Minnie Baethge Bernice Birk eight grandchildren one brother and four sisters. Funeral services were held February 9 at Squaw Creek conducted by Rev. Sammy Redford. Burial followed in the family cemetery.
Miss Reba Scott has returned from a week in Austin where she enjoyed a very pleasant visit with relatives and friends. She plans to resume her usual duties while sharing stories from the trip.
Alfred Cameron resigns after twelve years as scoutmaster of Fredericksburg troop No. 1. Herman Nagel will lead with Harry Kuhlmann as assistant as the Louis Jordan Post American Legion sponsors reorganizational meeting February 26 at 7 30 P M in Legion Hall inviting scouts parents and Legionnaires to join the effort to boost membership and recruit youths ages 12 to 18.
August H Schmidt longtime Gil aspie County resident died at his son Alfred Schmidt’s residence in Texas Tuesday February 14 at 6 PM aged 79 years 7 months 23 days He was born June 22 1853 in Live Oak Community He married Minna Wahrmund February 26 1875 They lived near Gold Texas for 43 years After 14 years with their youngest daughter family in Temple City he attended services at Concordia Male Choir and Albert Lutheran Church He is survived by five children 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren Funeral at City Cemetery Thursday at 2 PM with Rev A Koerner leading and choirs performing
Mr F W Arhelger plants a six acre pecan orchard on his farm southwest of town. Neighbor Emil Tatsch also dedicates six acres to young pecan trees as diversification. Fredericksburg Nursery supplied the trees for the projects.
An assassination attempt occurred after an address in Miami Florida when gunman Giuseppe Zangara fired at President-elect Roosevelt. Mayor Anton Cermak of Chicago and four others were wounded while Roosevelt was unharmed. Cermak was critically injured. others wounded included William Sinnott Russell Coldwell Miss Margaret Kruis Mrs Joe Gill.
Louis Wahrmund a pioneer resident of Tivydale died Sunday at 4 15 pm aged 79 years 6 months 5 days He married Bertha Kott on May 30 1880 and is survived by his widow two children Ernst Wahrmund and Mrs William Rahe eight grandchildren five great grandchildren three brothers and seven sisters The funeral was Tuesday at 10 am with interment in City Cemetery Rev F A Bracher officiating
Mrs Felix Hartmann nee Alma Oehler dies at home in Palo Alto on Sunday February 12 after a two day diphtheria bout. Born March 18 1895 she was 37 years 10 months and 24 days old. Survived by husband Felix Hartmann father Charles Oehler and mother in law Emma Hartmann with many relatives. A sister Hulda died in 1915 and her mother in 1924. Interment at City Cemetery with Rev F A Bracher officiating.
