LBJ donation spurs expansion of LBJ park historic site
Interior Secretary Morton praises the Johnsons for donating their LBJ Ranch land to the National Park Service. The gift will broaden the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Site near Johnson City and allow bus tours of the ranch and related properties. Expansion plans aim to add 24 and 37 acre tracts and restore riverfront sections. The state park expansion stalls over negotiations with six area landowners for about 400 acres east of Pedernales River, with offers exceeding 500000 dollars and ongoing negotiations individually.
