Prize Show Steer Sells for 8.25 a Pound at Chicago Stockyards
Elliott Brown, 20, from Town farm, sold his grand champion steer to J. C. Penney for 8.25 a pound, 950 pounds on the hoof, totaling 7 837. The steer to be dressed would yield 12 a pound in retail, but profits anticipated for charity. Penney donated the steer to United Charities of Chicago to boost the Christmas fund.
