Fredericksburg ISD Sets Budget and Tax Rate for 1972-73
Fredericksburg Independent School District trustees approved a proposed budget of 1,336,292 for 1972-73 and set the tax rate at 1.50 per 100 of assessed value, 32 cents below last year’s 1.82. Superintendent Hans Bergner says the lower rate with higher assessments raises real property taxes about 6 percent, while total property taxes rise less due to other levies. The district forecasts a 75,000 operating deficit for the year, prompting the budget to aim to erase the deficit and restore fund balances before a August 24 public hearing.
