Auto Accident Victim Dies
Sam C. Polk, prominent Houston attorney, died at Hermann Hospital Houston at 4 40 P M Tuesday from injuries from a Monday crash near Eagle Lake in which a car returning to Houston overturned in a ditch. The Polks vacationed on the Tom Carr ranch in Gillespie County. Polk had skull fracture and internal injuries. Mrs Polk broke her collar bone. Polk was formerly secretary to United States Senator Morris Sheppard and practiced law locally. Mrs Polk, formerly Miss Frankie Carr, once taught in the public schools.

First Bale of 1930 Cotton Crop In Gillespie County
The first bale of 1930 cotton in Gillespie County was produced by Fritz Ersch on the Ernst Hansen Farm near Fredericksburg. The bale weighed 483 pounds, was ginned at Pfeil Bro. Gin, and sold for 12.25 cents per pound to Juenke and Schoenewolf. A second bale, 504 pounds, was ginned at Engels Gin in Luckenbach by Robert Wehmeyer.

Adolf J. Reed died Wednesday morning at 1 o'clock at the Keidel and Wa4tte Sanitarium in Fredericksburg aged 64 years months and 27 days.
